Henry Schein offers two main options for self-directed learning about their software: by CD or by web portal. In the first case, you can get what they call the “Dentrix Learning Edition,” on a DVD. This includes course materials for teaching Dentrix, including a study guide and access to online tutorials. This kind of training can happen in the dental office, on your own computers, in the setting in which you will be using Dentrix. However, it is mostly self-directed and does not have formal deliverables or goals. The Dentrix Learning Edition is just under fifty dollars and can be purchased by calling 1-800-336-8749.
The second option involves a web portal, the Dentrix Resource Center. Gaining access to this web portal through the web provides webinars, articles and user guides. However, the hard copy of the DVD is not available. However, the Dentrix Resource Center is free when the Customer Service Plan is purchased as well.
Like the DVD option, the portal is available 24-7, but it is available from any computer, not just the one with the hard copy. A guest account is available if you would like to sample it.
The third option for training is via formal workshops taught by Dentrix. These are not intended for novices, but for those who are looking to improve proficiency. These are workshops at a central location with other Dentrix users, allowing an opportunity to network and find out the kind of problems and solutions other dental practitioners have enacted. A Dentrix Certified Trainer leads the workshops, and there is one basic and two advanced options. The workshops are: “Essentials Workshop-Master the Basics” (a two day workshop) and three one day, advanced workshops: “Insurance Billing and Collections-Do It Right to Get Paid Faster” “Clinical Workshop—Increase Back-Office Efficiency” and “Continuing Care Management Workshop-Optimize your Continuing Care Program.”
One other training option is available, the “Dentrix Overview and Profitability Seminar.” This is a half-day seminar to Dentrix users who are trying to improve their usage, regularly use advanced features and maximize their Customer Service Plan. Questions are encouraged.
